About me

I am a Scottish lassie and I live in French Basque country. My passion is writing. Before becoming an author, I was a photographic model, modelling for a wide range of products, including Ducatti motorbikes and 7Up. I was also the vampire in the Schweppes commercial - with plastic teeth.

A catastrophic modelling assignment in the Scottish Highlands gave me the idea for my first book, Face to Face, which was published by Hodder & Stoughton. I was thrilled with the reviews:

“Vain, but wildly funny leading lady.” -Scottish Daily Mail. It was also chosen as Good Housekeeping’s “Pick of the Paperbacks.”

Face to Face was subsequently published in Germany and Holland and serialised in Scandinavia.

I then suffered second-book syndrome. I had a two-book contract, but I had no ideas for the second book! The harder I tried, the more my brain froze up. I finished the book and it was published as Sweet Talk but I found the ordeal a real nightmare. I gave up writing but over the years, I gradually started again.

I independently published with amazing feedback. Since then I have completed five more (unpublished) books - some I will publish myself, some I will publish with a publisher. I'll let you know what happens!

I have lived all over the world: Kansas City, Athens, London, France, Kenya, Surrey, India, etc. These places and the experiences I have had inspire my work.

5 THINGS ABOUT ME

1. I was a mascot for a Scottish regiment (it was either a goat, or me).

2. I was arrested for busking in Leicester Square (I'm tone-deaf - that was probably the reason).

3. All the dogs I've ever owned have been from rescue kennels.

4. In India, a bar owner asked me to paint a woman on the side of his bar. I told him I only had poster paint and that the monsoon would wash it away. He didn't care about that, he still wanted me to do it - so maybe I invented a new type of art? "Here today, gone tomorrow"

5. I'm an animal rights activist.
